Kinondo Kwetu Hospital's new Prosthetic and Orthotics center is opened
Thanks to a donation from King Baudouin Foundation, we can now, by using 3D technology, produce prostheses and orthoses at the hospital’s new Prosthetics and Orthotics Center, the first of its kind in Kwale county. Many children and adults are in need for this service, that has been costly and not well adapted to the individuals’ special needs.
By leveraging 3D printing capabilities, we have significantly reduced fabrication time, improved customization and enhanced the overall quality of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
WHAT WE DO
The following services are available:
1. Assessment and Consultation: A team of experienced Orthopedic Technologists, Prosthetists and Orthotists dedicated to conduct thorough evaluations and consultations to determine the specific needs of each patient.
2. 3D Scanning and Modeling: Utilization of advanced 3D scanning technology, where we create precise digital models of patients' limbs, which serve as the basis for customizing prosthetic and orthotic devices.
3. 3D Printing and Fabrication: We are utilizing 3D printers to manufacture prosthetic sockets and orthotic devices based on the digital models, ensuring a precise fit and improved comfort.
4. Fitting and Alignment: Skilled technicians will expertly fit and align the prosthetic and orthotic devices to ensure optimal functionality and alignment with the patient's body.
5. Rehabilitation and Training: Our center provides comprehensive rehabilitation programs and training sessions to help patients adapt to their new prosthetic or orthotic devices and regain mobility and functional independence.
